PPEC Services
Skilled Nursing Services
Registered Nurses(R.N'.s), Licensed Practical Nurses(L.P.N'.s), and Certified Nursing
Assistants(C.N.A.'s) provide prescribed medications, treatments, therapies, and
interventions for the children in a developmental setting.
Physical Therapy
Assesses each child's mobility, including strength, balance and coordination. Various
techniques are employed to facilitate these skills for developmentally appropriate
activities.
Speech Therapy
Facilitates the individual child's ability to communicate both receptively and expressively
through various techniques including sign language, pictures, and speech. Oral
strength, coordination, and sensation along with feeding skills are targeted and
appropriate interventions applied to meet the individual child's needs.
Occupational Therapy
Improves the child's ability to respond to and interact with others as well as objects
within the environment. Recommends adaptive methods for self-care and play.
Engages children in activities to improve their motor skills and play abilities, and
provides appropriate sensation to facilitate movement and desirable behavior.
Nutritional Services
Evaluates nutritional needs by assessing growth and development, confers with
medical team to develop nutritional support and feeding programs, and acts as a
resource to physicians, families and staff.

What is PPEC?
Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) is a package of comprehensive nursing,
nutritional assessment, speech, physical and occupational therapy services provided in
an outpatient setting, as ordered by an attending physician. PPEC services are primarily
provided for infants and children ages 0 - 5 years old, who require skilled nursing care.
Before and after school care is available to school age children who require skilled
nursing care.
How is a child referred to our PPEC?
Admission requires a physician prescription. Referrals can be made by a child’s family,
physician, social worker, or any community service provider.
